When you need a backpack that can be versatile enough to carry your laptop or electronic equipment just as well as your outdoor gear, your choices are often pretty slim. This kind of backpack needs to have a strong bottom that won’t just give out when you’ve packed your backpack full, yet it also needs to sit comfortably and securely enough that it won’t jostle your stuff around and break things as you trek up a mountain or hike to your next class.
For all those reasons, the 5.11 Rush 24 Backpack is a great investment, starting at just $98.57.
What Features Does the 5.11 Rush 24 Backpack Have?
The best feature we noticed with this backpack was the closed-cell foam back padded hydration pocket. It’s got two back-to-back zippered pull tabs that make accessing this pocket simple and easy, no matter where you might happen to be! You might also find these features to be beneficial as well:
- a web platform is on three sides of this backpack, giving you additional attachment points that make carrying the heaviest of loads just a little bit easier;
- top exterior bookend pockets have a fleece lining that helps to prevent scratching of your sensitive items; and
- there are two large metal grommet drainage holes on the bottom of the pack that make cleaning it easy, whether it was because of a spill or just because you’ve had your dirty clothes in there for awhile!
It is made of nylon, which isn’t always the preferred material for some backpackers, but the quality stands up and the features definitely add some value to this pack.
The Advantages of the 5.11 Rush 24 Backpack
The primary advantage we noticed with this backpack was the roomy main storage area that is perfect for multi-use functions. You could pack in a full day’s worth of school books in there with leftover space, back in your laptop if you prefer, or put in most of your gear for an extended trip into the backwoods. You might also enjoy these advantages:
- the grab-and-go handle is reinforced well, letting you snatch up this pack in a hurry if need be without worrying about damaging it or its contents;
- the stuff-it pocket with the integrated draw cord is perfect for pens, pencils, or those extra filters for your camera; and
- the eyewear pocket is the perfect place to protect breakables you may have with you, even if you don’t need to protect your eyewear.
The main issue that some people have noticed with this backpack over time is that the stitching does tend to wear out after heavy use. The reality of even the best packs is that if you use them daily, you’re going to wear them out in a year. You’ll get three, maybe four years with consistent weekend use as well.
All in all, the quality and design are excellent and we believe you’ll enjoy using this backpack about as much as we did!Click here to look at prices on Amazon and find the best deal on this backpack.
